YEARBOOK: THE ADVOCATE
Just as M.V.H.S. had its beginnings at Mercy Technical School
at Broad and Columbia, so too did the school yearbook The Advocate.
Mr. John Hillman completed the 1972 book at the ³Tech,² continuing
as moderator into the 29th-and-Allegheny years until 1988.
During his time Mr. Hillman and his yearbook students established a
tradition of excellence that succeeding advisors and their ³crews²
have tried hard to maintain.
In recent years, Mr. Robert Stoebenau, a technology expert,
has taken The Advocate into the computer age. Thanks to him‹and
to the appropriate software, the yearbook is done entirely with
the newest technology.
In addition, Mr. Stoebenau and his assistants, Miss Fran
Skiendzielewski and Mr. Marty Corcoran, work with the students
of the Yearbook Committee as well as with a staff of student
writers. This committee meets during the ninth period two
days a week.
One final piece of information: From the 2003-2004 book on,
The Advocate will be done entirely in color. A full-color
yearbook is certainly a first in The Advocate¹s fine
history.
