  TUITION ASSISTANCE
Mercy Vocational High School has a wide variety of tuition assistance programs provided through the generosity of the many benefactors who believe strongly in the quality of our unique program.

We are able to assist many of our families with the cost of a Mercy Vocational High School education. For the 2005-2006 school year Mercy families are receiving over $600,000 in tuition assistance grants. Presently, there are four principal types of grants and awards. Each is based upon a demonstrated financial need. Parents may also apply for an education loan offered through SLM Financial Corporation. The following provides brief information on grants and student loans:

MVHS Grants
These grants are funded through our tuition assistance endowment fund and our Board-of-Directorsą Adopt-a-Student program. Grants range from $250 to $2,200. per school year. Grants are awarded for one year only, and reapplication must be made on an annual basis. Incoming 9th grade students may request a grant application once they have been accepted and are officially registered for the program. 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students may request a grant application in early March of each academic year. Application deadline is April 15.

Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Award
These grants are funded through the Connelly Foundation. Grant amount is $1,445 per school applied to each of the four years the student attends Mercy Vocational High School. The application-selection process is administered at the elementary level. Every parochial school, including consolidated parochial schools, in Philadelphia North and Philadelphia South Vicariates, is eligible to participate. Please contact the elementary principal and/or teacher early in the school year for information on the application process.

Charles E. Ellis Grant
Available to girls only who meet certain criteria, a tremendous funding opportunity exists through the CHarles E. Ellis Grant and Scholarship Fund. The 2005-2006 grant for Mercy Vocational High School students is $4,400 for 9th through 12th grade students. Applications are available from the elementary principal or teacher in January.
