ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS FROM POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS FOR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
What is the process I have to go through to hire your students?
Give our Director (contact information is located in top right block) a call, e-mail, or write and let us know your requirements. We have 8 different shops so if you need a business major who is certified in many MS applications, we have them. Cosmetology, certified Nursing Assistants, Culinary? We have them. Carpenters, Electricians, HVAC/R students? They’re here! We can even offer certified Computer Technicians.
Most employers ask for resumes; all our students have them. We can fax them to you, e-mail them or have them brought to you by the student when you interview them.
Our Director will bring the student to your interview and explain every aspect of our cooperative education program.
Are the students paid and if they are how much do I pay them?
Our students are paid between 6 and 14 dollars per hour with the average being 8.50 in an entry level position. Everything depends on competencies, certifications and experience.
What are your responsibilities and what are mine?
We ask you to sign a training agreement (shown below) and our Director becomes advocate for both the student and the employer. All correspondence and communication is handled with the Director who is the liaison between the employer and the school.

When and for how long are they available?
Our students take academic courses in the morning and are finished by 11:30. They can then leave and arrive at their place of employment between 12:00 and 12:30. They are permitted to work 28 hours per week (state mandated) between Monday and Friday. Weekends are between the student and employer.
Too good to believe... What’s the catch?
No catch but we do expect you to partner with us in the education of these fine young people. You now become their TEACHER for that shop for their senior year. You also give them their grade for the quarters that they work for you.
What happens when they graduate?
That’s completely your call. The vast majority of our students are offered full time employment by their CO-OP employers when they graduate. However, that is completely up to you.
