Mercy Vocational High School introduces The Mercy East Trades Learning Lab
posted on Wednesday, September 5th, 2007 The Mercy East Trades Learning Lab serves as a dedicated technology hub for the students in MVHS’s building trades vocational shops — Carpentry: Framing & Woodworking; Electricity: Commercial & Residential; HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration). This fully equipped technology center includes cutting-edge computer equipment and software tools to supplement and expand the educational curricula in the trades vocational training shops.
Unique features of the Learning Lab include:
The capacity to house a single class of vocational students in any one shop, with enough computers and desk space for each student to work independently.
Computers outfitted with software appropriate to the various building trades, including drafting programs, estimating and project management software, training simulators, and the Microsoft Office suite.
The room wired for Internet connectivity to facilitate research, interactive learning and online testing.
Shop-appropriate hardware, such as graphing tablets, which could be used by students in drafting projects.
