June News

As summer approaches and another school year comes to an end, I want to express my gratitude to you in the name of all the faculty and staff of Mercy Vocational High School. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance during this school year. I hope that we have served you and your children well. I imagine that you have seen many accomplishments and much growth from those early September days.

To the parents of the Class of 2009, I wish you and your “graduates” much peace and happiness in the days and years ahead. We will be staying in touch with your sons and daughters to check on their progress in jobs, trade schools or colleges. If there is anything we can do for you in the future, know that we are here for you. Stay in touch. See you at graduation and thank you for your efforts which can make a glorious day like that possible. Congratulations to you!

To the rest of the parents and guardians, I extend my congratulations to you as well. Thank you for moving through the year with your sons and daughters. May the summer be a time of rest and relaxation for you and your families. In September, I will see you at back-to-school nights and welcome you to another leg of this four-year journey. In the meantime, enjoy the days of summer. Encourage your sons and daughters to read the summer book, to do SkillsTutor on the computer, to work on shop projects (mostly for new sophomores), and to do creative and meaningful activities. May this summer time be a chance for learning of a different variety for your sons and daughters. Learning never takes a vacation.

I hope by now that you have become familiar with PowerSchool and its information. I hope this has become a valuable tool and means of communication between home and school. Feel free to let me know how you found PowerSchool. Share the advantages and disadvantages with me. Such information can help to serve you better in the coming school year.

Be sure to check Sister Patricia’s newsletter for some pertinent end-of-the-year and summer information. June’s calendar is worth checking so that you are sure of the days in for certain grades and the important dismissal times. I want you to be sure of the comings and goings for your peace of mind and your children’s safety. June is a busy time of finishing classes, returning books, and all those ending things. Remind your sons and daughters to see all things through to the end, i.e. doing homework, studying for tests, finishing requirements, maintaining good conduct, coming on time, and being at school every day. Join us at the awards ceremonies, June 5th for the seniors and June 12th for the other grades.

If you need to be in touch with us, some of us are here during the summer months Monday through Thursday. I am just a phone call or email away. If I am away, I will be back in touch in a timely fashion.

On behalf of Sister Rosemary, Sister Patricia and myself, I send you our prayers for a wonderful and peaceful summer for you and yours. We are grateful for the gift you are to Mercy Vocational High School and for the trust you have in us, our faculty and staff. Thank you for your continued sacrifices to provide this education for your children.

Peace and blessings.

Sister Susan
